In an effort to keep up with changing technology, RMSYS has manufactured multiple different dialer units for the waste water community. RMSYS has followed the telephone industry in moving from 1G to 5G dialers and changing the landline dialers from normal phone lines to being able to handle VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) lines as well. Below are some common issues with dialers. For more technical support, please call RMSYS at 1-800-347-0920.
All of the dialers have common troubleshooting characteristics which need to be checked first:
- All RMSYS dialers use 120 volt inputs and power. Make sure there is power to the unit. If alarms are connected from multiple areas, please make sure they all come from one 120 volt source. If alarm leads from separate 120 volt inputs are used, it will send 220 volts or more to the dialer in the event of an alarm. That amount of voltage will destroy the dialer.
- Cell Dialer is no longer sending alert messages - check to make sure the dialer has power and is connecting to the cell tower by pushing the technician onsite button (Manual) on the dialer. Hold the button down until the Report light flashes 3 times. The Report light will stay on a second and then the Report Light will come on briefly when the dialer connects with the tower. If the dialer is connecting to the tower, go online to make sure the maintenance contract date for the aerobic system is current and also check to see if the annual renewal for the dialer is current. If one or both of these are out of date, the dialer will not send messages in the event of an alarm.
- Landline Dialer is no longer sending alert messages - check to make sure the dialer has power. Then check to make sure there is an active phone line with service so the dialer can connect to the RMSYS server. Hold the technician onsite button (Manual) down until the Report light flashes 3 times. The Report light will stay on a second and then the Report Light will come on briefly when the dialer connects with the server. If the dialer is connecting, go online to make sure the maintenance contract date for the aerobic system is current and also check to see if the annual renewal for the dialer is current. If one or both of these are out of date, the dialer will not send messages in the event of an alarm.
- Cell Dialers - Monitoring Faults are indicated by a yellow light flash counts:
- 2 Flash - NO MONITORING SERVICE CONTRACT - contract is inactive or expired
- 3 Flash - no email address or cell number in RMSYS to receive alerts
- 4 Flash - Low signal strength with cell tower
5. Landline Dialers - Monitoring Faults are indicated by a yellow light flash counts:
- 1 Flash - internal hardware problem detected
- 2 Flash - no dial tone detected by modem during last call attempt
- 3 Flash - call failed (i.e., now answer or call interrupted)
- 4 Flash - no event acknowledgement received back from server
